World rowing championships 2011 in Bled
29. August 2011.
The history of rowing around Bled goes back over 100 years and in 1989 Bled also hosted the World Rowing Championships. At that time Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia and independence was still two years away. 20,000 spectators came to watch the finals and Lake Bled was declared a gem of nature perfectly suited to the rower’s needs. This week, after 22 years, Bled is again hosting Slovenia’s biggest sporting event for 2011 and rowing’s most important regatta of the year, the World Rowing Championships.
