Twenty-one tourist destinations from across Europe were awarded the title of ‘2011 European Destination of Excellence in Tourism and Regeneration of Physical Sites’ at a Gala Awards ceremony in Brussels on 27 September 2011. Idrija was awarded for its museum buried underground - the mining museum of Idrija.
